About the Author
Harold L. Arnold Jr. holds a PhD in social and organizational psychology from Temple University and a master s degree in marriage and family therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is president and founder of Discovering Family International, an organization that promotes the virtues and values of family life. A sought after speaker and workshop leader, Dr. Arnold is also creator of the Relationship ROCKS modelTM, a program for building equity in personal relationships. A member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and Black African-American Christian Counselors, Dr. Arnold serves as a minister and counselor for a large multi-cultural church in Philadelphia.

Marriage Rocks for Christian Couples... Literally ROCKS!

I am a member of St. John Church Unleashed in Grand Prairie, TX and our church is using the book as a part of our discipleship ministry for couples. We started the book in 2011 with small couple's groups in the home. The couples go through a year-long discipleship process of meeting monthly to discuss the lessons and apply them to their marriage. In 2001 we had over 60 couples sign up. We kicked off the year with a wonderful dance done by the couples leader's. Once the couples begin the monthly lessons, we heard such wonderful testimonies on how marriages were being transformed. We were so excited to hear how God was revealing himself to and through the couples. When we began the registration for Victorious Disciples Couples in January 2012, we had over 151 couples to register.
This book has been a blessing to our couples and to the marriages here at St. John. Although it is written with an emphasis on African-American marriages, the tools and principles within the book can be applied to any and all ethnic groups. It also has a leaders guide that provides wonderful tips for each lesson, along with group activities. If your church is looking for a discipleship curriculum or a small group study for couples, do not hesitate to purchase this book. I promise you that the marriages in your church will be blessed, families will be strengthened, the body of Christ edified and God glorified by how husbands and wives begin submitting their marriages back to Him. Marriage Rocks for Christian Couples is a awesome book...It literally ROCKS!!!!

The Book Marriage Rocks....rocks!!!!

What a great book! There is alot to say about Marriage Rocks. If you want a book that is insightful, in line with scripture, and gives you and your spouse specific tools to help grow your marriage then you have found it.
Dr. Harold and his wife came to our church (Union Grove M.B. Church in Georgia) and did a workshop...I didn't think it could get much better, since the book had so much information. But it did. If you are looking for a great married couples facilitator, look no further.
Marriage Rocks is great for the newly married, those who have been married for a while, and for those who are thinking of getting married. This book could be used as a great premartial counseling tool. It goes deep and if you and your spouse really take the time to read the material you will learn something that you did not know....that is a guarantee. I have read many married couples books and this is not one of those...the author of Marriage Rocks shows you the scripture and then shows you how it relates to your marriage. The intent of the book is not to help you stay married but to have a successful marriage, the kind of marriage God intended.

Navigate the Journey to a Harmonious Marriage

Since there is no such thing as a perfect marriage, all marriages can be improved. Marriage ROCKS for Christian Couples is an excellent resource for husbands and wives who are committed to making their union the harmonious blessing that God designed. Dr. Harold Arnold, Jr. uses the metaphor of rocks because of their biblical significance - God is the rock of salvation; and the rock is a fortress that protects us from the storms of life. Knowing that marriage can be mutually fulfilling and divine is not the same thing as understanding how to navigate the journey to that destination. This book is a road map. I teach marriage enrichment classes and use the Program for Strong African-American Marriages (ProSAAM), PREPARE/ENRICH and PREP curricula. This book is a fantastic companion for all three, particularly for churches that have on-going marriage or couples ministries. Communication is a dynamic that poses a challenge for many couples. Marriage ROCKS for Christian Couples provides practical exercises to stimulate discussion that will enable both partners to share their thoughts and feelings while developing spiritual, emotional and physical intimacy.
