Excellent reading.

My sister bought me this book and it sat on my shelf for about 5 months. Once I finally began to read it I couldn't put it down. After I learned that it was part of a series of books I went out and bought them all. The reading and length of the book is very easy. A little to easy, at a junior high level, but sometimes I even go back and read the book again because the plot and characters were so finely constructed.

I loved this book! I took it out of my teachers library but didn't read it for a while. Once i did though, I couldn't stop.
I loved it so much that i stole it from my teacher. The carecters are very deatailed for such a short book.I especialy love the fact that its all about magic. It is a must read.

Examining such notable films as Lessons of Darkness (1992) and Grizzly Man (2005), Eric Ames shows how Herzog dismisses documentary as a mode of filmmaking in order to creatively intervene and participate in it. In close, contextualized analysis of more than twenty-five films spanning Herzog’s career, Ames makes a case for exploring documentary films in terms of performance and explains what it means to do so. Thus his book expands the field of cinema studies even as it offers an invaluable new perspective on a little studied but integral part of Werner Herzog’s extraordinary oeuvre.

Her own four years as a member of the group, her behind-the-scenes knowledge enable her to convey the spirit of the singers, to discuss frankly both strength and weakness. But always she insists that success “lies not in the superior quality of the voices that make up the choirs, since Christiansen chooses largely the average, untrained voice, but in the nature of the director.”Thus it is primarily F. Peter Thomas competently narrates three of the stories, while an unidentified female reads Keelboat Annie with a very slight, sometimes Southern accent and rousing throatiness. The adaptation featuring Annie Christmas, which will be new to many young readers, is the most engaging tale. Annie punches bullies and makes a necklace of their teeth while becoming an impressive and respected keelboat operator. In Lucky Jack and the Giant, Lucky Jack sets forth in the world. An old woman directs him to the home of the evil Long Beard, who sets forth impossible tasks that Jack accomplishes with the assistance of Long Beard's daughter Julie's magic. Jack and Julie eventually escape. How Mr. Dog Got Tame features a starving dog and a starving wolf. During a bad winter, Mr. Dog summons the courage to approach the home of Mr. Man and Mrs. Woman, where he and his descendants have remained ever since. Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby is the story of Brer Fox making the sticky tar baby to trap Brer Rabbit. All tapes (and books) conclude with a different one page lesson in African-American history. Teachers guides provide background information, discussion questions, and project suggestions. Unobstrusive music and sound effects are peppered throughout the tape which make for entertaining listening with or without the accompanying books.

This book gives a clear and thorough insight into fire protection in Hydrocarbon processing facilities. It provides the informaiton about performance based design approach which use engineering analysis of hazard, as well as requirements from related code. I recommend fire protection system designers, safety managers and risk surveyers working in hydrocarbon processing plants to read this book.

Excelente resource for those who are looking for guide for the develop of a fire protection strategy in the hydrocarbon processing facilities. From team management, risk assessment and analysis, fire protection fundamentals and finally inspection and testing. It is not a manual to design fire protection systems to the wide range of equipment involved, but it is a guide to understand the overall risks involved in this industry. We will always require the final use of fire protection standards like NFPA.

Edward W. Soja is Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning at the UCLA School of Public Affairs, and for many years was Centennial Visiting Professor in the Cities Programme, London School of Economics.
